Q:  Hi Buddy!  My neighbor's tree fell and hit my house.  Why shouldn't his insurance company pay for it?
A:  Great question! Woof!!  Keep in mind that insurance covers what you own.  It does not matter where the tree comes from.  Your insurance company should pay the claim because it is a natural peril.  You could have a case in a court of law if you are out of pocket for repairing your house, and can show some form of negligence on the part of your neighbor.  This is a question for a professional layer in your state.
As always, check with a licensed insurance agent on what your policy covers, better safe than sorry!
Woof---Thanks

Q:  Buddy, I will be renting a car for the Holiday's, should I purchase the insurance from the rental place?  Am I covered under my present policy?
A:  A lot of people will be renting a car this Holiday Season! Woof!!!  If you presently have full coverage insurance on at least one of your vehicles,  then that coverage will extend over to the rental.  The down side is that your deductible will apply as well.  If you purchase the rental insurance then their is usually no deductible. Important---who ever is covered on the primary policy should also be stated in the rental car contract, if you think that someone else will drive,  make sure that they are listed on the contract.  As always, check with a licensed insurance agent in the state you live, a licensed professional will be able to guide you through all your insurance needs.
Woof----Thanks

Q:  Buddy, I have family flying in to visit for the Holiday Season and I want them to be able to use my car, do I have to put them on my policy?

A:  Thank you for asking such a great question!!!  In the state of Indiana, as in most states the insurance follows the vehicle.  That means with your permission and a valid drivers license who ever drives your car is covered under the coverage that is assigned to that car.  As I always say it is important to check with a licensed insurance agent in the state you live, a licensed professional will be able to guide you through all your insurance needs.  Woof Woof Woof, "Happy Holidays"!!!

Q:  Buddy, I have a leak in my house.  It was snowing for a long time and now its melting-----and coming in the house.  Should I turn in a claim?

A:  It's that time of year.  All insurance is to protect you against accidents.  If it snowed and it is melting now then you may have ice damming.  As the snow melts it slowly moves down the roof and dams up in the gutters creating a pool of water.  This water has now where to go,  so it leaks through the tiles and into the house.  This can be prevented by using a roof rake and taking excess snow off your roof.  With most insurance companies this is not a peril and can be prevented.  As I always say, "check with a professional insurance agent in your state".  Thank you for the question!  Woof.

Q:  Buddy, I purchased a new laptop and it was stolen out of my car.  Should I turn this in on my Auto Insurance?

A:  Woof, I hate to hear that!  The answer is Yes and No.  In this situation, your laptop is covered under your Home policy or Renters,  not Auto.  This means that the Deductible on your Home policy apply's.  You should discuss this with your agent because if your laptop costs $1200.00 and the Deductible on your Home is $1000.00 it might not be worth it to turn it in.  In this situation,  the insurance company pays out only $200.00 and you will have a black mark on your policy.  Best to ask your professional agent.
